Find out more about what your child will learn at our school.
Parents and carers are invited to visit Anson Street School to discuss their child's needs and to discover how the school can work with them to benefit students with disability or problems in learning.
INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN
All students are provided with an Individual Education Plan , with programs being developed by staff in collaboration with parents and carers, and other relevant personnel. This ensures quality educational outcomes for all students. Individual Education Plans are developed when students are in Year 10, focussing on future transiton to work or post-school organsiations when they complete Year 12.
STUDENT PROGRAMS
The students' programs are reviewed each semester to ensure that appropriate educational opportunities and programs are being offered to meet each child's developing needs. All individual plans are designed to maximise facilities as well as a diverse range of resources that are available in the community.
Anson Street School employs a speech therapist and a physiotherapist for a few hours each week. They work with individual students and develop programs for staff on class. We also has a School Counsellor and Chaplain.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES
Are an important element in teaching and learning. Interactive boards are available in most classrooms in the school, and students benefit from using networked computers. The school also has a number of iPads for use across the school.
OTHER INFORMATION
Students complete the Record of School Achievement and Higher School Certificate through the Board of Studies, and may have opportunity to undertake studies through TAFE as part of transition planning and availability.
Anson Street School is also part of the pre2 learning group, collaborating with district primary schools, for professional development opportunities to support quality teaching and learning programs. Students are involved in Marine Studies, through sailing activities and Agricultural Programs such as propagation of plants through the Viticulture Program.
The school's two buses and a utility allow students to readily access the community to participate in educational excursions, integration activities, work experience, workplace learning and to pursue leisure and recreation options including athletics, bushwalking, canoeing, community outings, concerts and performances, cycling, horseriding, indoor cricket, oz-tag football, sailing soccer, sports and swimming.
