High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE)
Breakaway Groups
We have recently introduced new lunchtime breakaway groups designed to give students more opportunities to explore their interests and extend their skills. These groups align with our school’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) focus areas, supporting the development of students’ intellectual, creative, social-emotional, and physical potential.
Students can get involved in a variety of activities that cater to different passions and talents:
🏀 Sports Groups – Whether it’s basketball games or hoop-shooting challenges, our sports groups offer a great way for students to stay active, build teamwork, and develop leadership skills.
💄 Make-Up and Face Painting Club – Students with a flair for creativity can learn and practise artistic techniques in make-up design and face painting. This is a fantastic outlet for self-expression and collaboration.
🎙️ Radio School – Budding broadcasters can join Radio School to learn about presenting, interviewing, and producing engaging audio content.
These new groups not only encourage students to pursue their interests but also foster new friendships, creativity, and confidence. We encourage all students to get involved, try something new, and make the most of these exciting opportunities during their lunch breaks!
Anson Farm
Anson Farm Vineyard
The vineyard project (Anson Farm Vineyard) is part of Anson Street School’s vocational program and assists in teaching senior students work related skills in order for them to gain open or supported employment in the local Orange viticulture industry.
In 2006 students from Anson Street, Orange High and The Canobolas Rural Technology High Schools planted 1600 vines (0.9 hectare). This is now a well established vineyard, producing two varieties - Tempranillo and Tempranillo Rosé.
The students are now being trained onsite in the vineyard learning new skills such as ground maintenance, and pruning vines etc.
Students enjoy having a farm to engage in practical activities related to agriculture and Primary Industries.
Anson Farm Wines
We are fortunate to have the support of local vigneron Peter Hedberg to guide our Farm Assistants in growing Tempranillo grapes. Dan Shaw from Phillip Shaw Winery produced our Tempranillo Rosé and commencing in 2024, Dan Murphy’s is selling our wine, with all profits coming back to the school to fund a range of projects. We are very grateful for the community support we receive for Anson Farm.
Anson Farm Eggs
Anson Farm Eggs is home to a small, free-range ISA Brown flock nestled within the Anson Farm Vineyard.
Our much-loved chickens thrive in this unique environment, cared for daily by students who gain hands-on experience while developing practical skills and confidence.
