Our school offers a range of spaces, tools and resources to support student learning. Whether it’s for study, sport, creativity or technology, our learning environments and resources give students what they need to succeed.

Our school facilities

We offer a range of learning environments. They help students stay engaged, build confidence and enjoy every part of their school day. Our facilities may include:

• bright and comfortable classrooms equipped with modern digital recourses for learning

• a well-stocked library for reading

• a gym and sports oval for fitness and fun

• art and performance spaces for creative learning

Resources and opportunities

Our school uses modern technology and digital learning tools. Our resources help students learn, create and stay connected. As a NSW public school, we have access to shared programs and tools available to all schools in the state.

The Skills House is a program that offers a safe and welcoming space where students can develop important life skills tailored to their individual abilities. A team of professionals creates personalised learning plans to help each student reach their goals. Through teaching, practice, support, and real workplace experiences, the program helps students gain confidence, improve communication, and become more independent. In 2023, Anson Street School received the NSW Secretary's Award for an Outstanding School Initiative for this program.

The Engine Room is a purpose built, sensory space designed around the latest evidence-based research of sensory regulation, to meet the diverse sensory needs of all students. It is used by therapists and staff to assist students to assist them to be in the optimal zone of regulation for learning. Structured sensory activities and programs support sensory processing and emotional regulation. The space is continually growing and adapting to student needs as new equipment becomes available.

Our Lunchtime Breakaway Groups give students the chance to build social connections by developing key social skills through play and teamwork. These groups provide guided practice in playground games, focusing on teamwork, fair play, sharing, and cooperation. Typically small and flexible, the groups are designed to create a comfortable and enjoyable lunchtime experience suited to the interests of students. Current options include Mindful Art, School Radio, Beading, Retreat, Cooking, Computer Club, Gym Ninja, Gym Climbing, and Bike Skills.

We are fortunate to have our very own mini-Woolies as a part of the Skills House. This is a training centre and apart from the money, everything is real!

Students are continually learning and gaining considerable on-the-job experience. Once a week students enjoy receiving and unpacking deliveries, stacking shelves, stocktake and learning why we should rotate stock.

Students are also gaining register experience while processing classroom orders.

At Anson, we take pride in providing our students with access to top-notch fitness facilities. Our well-equipped gym features spin bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, and a variety of weights to support strength and cardiovascular training. Additionally, we have a state-of-the-art multi-ball interactive sports and gaming wall, offering an innovative and engaging way to develop coordination, agility, and teamwork. It’s the perfect space for students to stay active and have fun while improving their fitness.

Our Climbing Zone offers students a thrilling and challenging space to develop strength, coordination, and confidence. It encourages physical activity, problem-solving, and resilience. Whether beginners or experienced climbers, students enjoy building their skills in a safe and supportive environment. The Climbing Zone is a highlight of our school’s commitment to active, adventurous learning!
